Stephen “Steve” Jerry McElheny

Stephen “Steve” Jerry McElheny, 81, of Peru, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

He was born on March 20, 1944, in Peru, Indiana, to Eugene and Betty (Graham) McElheny. On January 31, 1984, Steve married Sandra Elaine (Jackson) McElheny. He was retired as a conductor from Norfolk & Southern Railroad. Steve loved spending time with family. He enjoyed working on things and helping others.

He is survived by his wife Sandra and children Cassie McElheny (husband Robert Tarbox) of New Hampshire, Carrie (Chris) Munroe of North Carolina, Katina Christy of Elwood, Indiana, Jerry (Denise) Carr of Kokomo, Indiana, Roger Carr of Peru, Indiana, and Janice (Jerry) Leslie of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a brother Mike (Michiko) McElheny of Georgia. There are many other family members who loved him dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and son Cycrus Christy, and one daughter Roberta.

Per Steve’s wishes, there will be no services.

Matthew “Matt” Alan Burge

Matthew “Matt” Alan Burge, 38, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away September 26, 2025, at his home. He was born September 3, 1987, in Frankfort, Indiana, to Louis Dean and Cheryl Burge. He married Sophia Strong in Indianapolis, IN, on October 28, 2022, and they were separated.

Matt was a 2006 graduate of Frankfort Senior High School where he was active in Ffortissimo Choir, Big Broadcast, theatre, and wrestling.

Matt is survived by his parents Louis Dean and Cheryl Burge; brothers Mike Burge of Frankfort, IN, and Jason (Mandi) Burge of Bloomington, IN; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Anna Crail; and J.E. and Hazel Burge.
