Jean Ann Teal
It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch Jean Ann Teal on October 4, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on December 11, 1937, in Marion, Indiana, Jean was the youngest of six children born to Milton and Matilda (Welch) Purvis. On September 15, 1955, she married the love of her life Scott Teal Jr., also in Marion. Together, they built a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering devotion; raising a family and traveling the world while Scott proudly served in the United States Air Force with honor and distinction.
In her younger years, Jean found joy in bowling and playing cards, forming lifelong friendships over games filled with laughter and friendly competition. Later in life, she enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams, working on puzzles and crosswords to keep her mind sharp, reading novels and newspapers, and cooking; each dish made with love and care.
Jean was passionate and took pride feeding squirrels and hummingbirds each spring. Weekly visits from Koga, a beloved companion, brought her endless happiness and comfort.
Above all, Jean’s greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her life was deeply enriched by each of them. Their love, memories, and shared moments remain a lasting legacy of her nurturing spirit.
Jean is survived by her loving children Terry Lynn Burton and Jeffrey Scott Teal, along with many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and dear friends whose lives were touched by her warmth, strength, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Scott Teal Jr., her cherished son David Scott Teal, and many other loved ones throughout her 87 remarkable years.
Jean’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind, a reminder to live with the same grace, charm, and determination she carried throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service as we lay Jean to rest beside her husband at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Allen Rawlins officiating.
