Evelyn Lucile Tidler Johnson
Evelyn Lucile Tidler Johnson, 91, of Sharpsville, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in the home she shared with her husband BJ. Evelyn was born Friday, July 13, 1934, at her family home in Tipton, IN. Evelyn was one of the 10 children born to Charles and Ruth Virginia (Lewis) Tidler. On June 25, 1951, she married the love of her life Bedford Junior Johnson, who survives.
Evelyn was a full-time homemaker who took great care of her husband and three children. She did have some outside employment at Carter’s Grocery Store and GW Invader Boat Factory, both in Sharpsville.
Evelyn was the most generous and giving person. She was the ultimate caregiver who looked for any opportunity to help others. She was a fabulous cook and gave freely to her neighbors and the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, where Evelyn and BJ were lifelong members.
In her younger days, she enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing. She even mastered the art of making doll clothes and prom dresses. But her greatest joys came from watching babies, fishing, and mowing yards!
In addition to her husband BJ, she is survived by her daughters Shirley Diane (Dana) Sutton and Beverly Joan (David) Brudi; brothers Dick (Marilyn) Tidler and Garry (Sharon) Tidler; grandchildren Carrie Mae (Donald) Robinson, Cherie Kae (Craig) Smith, Rebecca Ann (Ben) Ruf, and Mathew Scott (Ashley) Sutton; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a huge extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ruth Tidler; son Mark Johnson; granddaughter Susan Marie Sutton; great-grandson Maddox Scott Sutton; and seven siblings and their spouses.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Sharpsville United Methodist Church, 228 W. Meridian St., Sharpsville, IN 46068. A funeral service celebrating Evelyn’s life will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the church with Pastor Heather Holman officiating. Private burial will take place in Sharpsville Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Evelyn’s memory to Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Stout & Son Funeral Home – Sharpsville Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
