Joe Melvin Purcell, Jr.

Joe Melvin Purcell, Jr. born on December 27, 1965, transitioned on May 14, 2026, at the age of 60. He valued the simple things in life and took pride in the time spent with family and friends. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.

A funeral for Joe will take place on Sat., May 30, at 11 a.m. at Wayman Chapel AME Church, 920 N. Apperson Way. Visitation will take place from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral.

Julie Ann (Hawkins) Corbit

Julie Ann (Hawkins) Corbit, 66, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at her grandson’s residence.

She was born on February 15, 1960, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Larry Lee Hawkins and Jannie Kay (McKinney) Witt. Julie was a bit of a free spirit, yet she was also a bit nostalgic, too. She loved old Hollywood and especially black-and-white movies. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Julie is survived by her children Jennifer Brooke Corbit of Kokomo and Jared Corbit of Frankfort. Also surviving are her mother Jannie Kay Witt of Bunker Hill, her brother Travis Witt of Kokomo, her sister Page Smith of Bunker Hill, her grandson Adidas Michael Mayfield of Kokomo, along with four other grandchildren and her great-grandchildren Maverick Mayfield, Raelynn Cook, and Elijah Gibbs. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Larry Lee Hawkins and her stepfather Franklin Douglas Witt.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Rankin Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Indiana.
