The Lady Blue Devils of Tipton were hoping to restore a winning record. The Western Lady Panthers were trying to salvage a season that has gone awry.

The ball bounced Tipton's way as the girls’ volleyball team secured its sixth win of the season, 3-2, over Western on the Lady Panthers' home court.

The match remained close throughout the evening. Tipton won the first, third, and final sets of the match, each by two points, while Western took sets two and four by slightly larger margins and actually scored one more point on the night than the victors. But when the points are scored matters.

Tipton was led by an absolute scoring machine. Senior Cora Rodibaugh recorded an amazing 29 kills in the match, garnering a point on 28 percent of her shots taken.

Sophomore Kelyn Everling and freshman Emilie Mumbower each recorded five kills.

Those kills were set up by senior Lacey Bitner who was in the right place at the right moment 33 times to register the assist.

From the service line, sophomore Natalie Moreland led the Lady Blue Devils with 20 points scored, including two aces.

Defensively, Tipton relied more upon Western errors than blocking shots. Rodibaugh managed a pair of blocks, while Mumbower and freshman Addy Chessir each had one block.

Western had not reported game statistics by publication deadline.

With the win, Tipton improved to 6-5 on the season. two of those wins were tallied at Western's expense. They next travel to Sheridan this evening.

The loss started a string of futility for Western, which dropped their next three matches and now sit at 5-11 on the season. They travel to Tri-Central this evening, looking for a win.
