Andrew Durham, the current Center Township Trustee, officially announced his candidacy for re-election this week. Over the last three years, Durham has focused on strengthening services, improving efficiency, and expanding support for residents, “taking the foundation of a very good office and making it great.”
During his tenure, Durham has led several key initiatives, including the much-needed renovation of Somers Park and the creation of the Hands Up Food Pantry at the township’s main office. The pantry has become a vital resource for families and individuals in need, expanding the township’s impact beyond traditional assistance programs.
Over the past three years, Center Township has approved more than $1.5 million in assistance for the community, helping residents through financial hardship and ensuring that essential services remain available. Center Township has also been recognized statewide for its work; in 2025, the township was honored as “Township of the Year,” an award that reflects Durham’s leadership and his team’s commitment to collaboration, accountability, and service.
“As trustee, I believe this work is meaningful and deeply rewarding,” said Durham. “I look forward to continuing this mission over the next four years by bringing consistency and efficiency to how we provide township services and by helping Center Township navigate any changes in township government legislation. Our top priority is making sure vital services, such as township assistance and fire protection, are there whenever our residents need them.”
Prior to being elected Trustee, Durham served the same office as its Financial Officer, giving him extensive experience in financial efficiencies and internal control practices. He and his staff take pride in being among the most responsive and effective township offices in the state, and Durham is committed to building on that success in the next term.
“I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited for what we can still achieve,” Durham said. “I want Center Township to continue to be a model of professional, compassionate township government for years to come.”
