Rose Marie (Alder) Porter

Rose Marie (Alder) Porter, 93, of Kokomo, passed away 5:27 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Waters of Tipton. She was born in Arno, Virginia, on April 1, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ora (Messer) Alder. On April 23, 1952, she married Bert Porter Jr.

Rose was a 1949 graduate of Forest High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Forest after high school, then worked at Delco Electronics for five years, where she met Bert, the love of her life. Rose was a homemaker who kept the house in order, cared for her husband, and raised her two children. She and Bert were youth leaders for many years and often hosted parties and get-togethers with the church family. Her faith in Jesus Christ and sharing that with her children and grandchildren were most important in her life. She and Bert attended Fair Havens Alliance Church.

Rose is survived by her children, Victor (Audrey) Porter; Woodstock, GA, Sherry (Kevin) McCormack; Tipton IN, grandchildren, Adrianne (Fernando) Ochoa, Aaron (Sunshine) Porter, Joshua (Katie) McCormack, Caleb McCormack; great-grandchildren, Emily, Mateo, and Nikole Ochoa, Levi, Blaise, Sophia, and Mercy Porter; sister, Marion (Bob) Wisehart; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Don Alder and June Robertson.

A graveside service will be held for the family at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Russiaville Cemetery. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Fair Havens Alliance Church, 1216 South County Road 300 West, Russiaville, IN 46979, with Pastor John Zwirn officiating.
