James “Pug” Acres

James “Pug” Acres, 92 of Noblesville died early Wednesday morning May 8, 2024. He was born in Elwood on February 14, 1932, to Harley C. and Margaret (Sullivan) Acres. James married Florence Frazier in December of 1950. She preceded him in death last year.

James was a hard worker. He retired from Excello / Textron in Elwood after 30 years of employment. During his career he worked as a tool and die maker and eventually became the supervisor. He attended the Elwood Presbyterian church. James and Florence spent more than 10 years enjoying the scenery as they traveled all 49 states.

Survivors include his five children: Brenda Drake of Fishers, John Acres of Las Vegas, Jerry Acres of Noblesville, Barbara Moser of California and Jill Acres of Las Vegas. James has 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Cain, Margaret Ellis, Harley Acres, Henry Acres and George Acres.

James had a strong faith and was looking forward to not only being reunited with his wife and greeted by other family members and friends including two of his grandchildren, Allison Drake and Ashley Hardey.

Burial will occur in the Elwood City Cemetery with a private family graveside service. Rev. Philip Votaw will preside.

Jeffery Dean Kennedy

Jeffery Dean Kennedy, 63, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away May 2, 2024. He was born on November 6, 1960, in Marion, Indiana. He was the son of Lowell Kennedy and Wanda (Duckett) Hill. Jeff is survived by Pamela (Fortner) Kennedy, who he married on June 27, 1981. Jeff retired from Haynes International after 42 years of employment.

For many years Jeff enjoyed bowling in the Haynes League at Don Lowry Lanes/Heritage Lanes. He enjoyed the outdoors during the summers. He liked working on sudoku and crossword puzzles in his leisure time. He occasionally shot pool and went fishing. However, the majority of his time was spent working and providing for his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Pamela Kennedy; children, Brooke Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, (Daughter in Law) Lauren Kennedy, granddaughter Malia Kennedy, (Bonus Son) Telmon Nix III, (Bonus Grandsons) Jeremiah Nix and Malachi Shelley, his mother Wanda Hill, his older brother Reggie Kennedy, his younger sister Rita Brown, (Brother in Law) Billy Brown, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. From Pamela's side, (Brother & Sister in Laws) Cathy Hill, Patti and John Spagnolo, Russ and Cody Fortner, Chris Sands and Mark Tarjan, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and of course many friends and coworkers over the years.

He is preceded in death by his father Lowell Kennedy, older brother Terry Kennedy, (Sister-in-Law) Norma Kennedy, (Sister-in-Law) Kimmie Kennedy, (Pam's parents) Robert and Laura Fortner, along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
