Nevan Dante Riddle

Nevan Dante Riddle, 22, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born on July 19, 2001, the son of Erik Michael Riddle and Amy Sue Smith.

Nevan graduated from Kokomo High School. For the past five years he worked at Cracker Barrel as a cook. Nevan enjoyed music, playing video games, darts, the outdoors, and was really good at chess. He would wander everywhere, and sometimes picked up stray cats and snakes. Nevan loved being with his son and family.

Nevan is survived by his parents, Erik (Diana) Riddle and Amy Smith; son, Dante Riddle; girlfriend, Nikki McCall; siblings, Izabelle Riddle, Gabriella Riddle, and Natallia Riddle; grandparents, Daniel (Ann) Smith, Mike (Christy) Smith, and Patty (Ron) Dennis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nevan was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kelly Smith; and great grandmother, Marilyn Isaacs.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. John Walter Mazurek

John Walter Mazurek, 52 years old, of Bringhurst, passed away unexpectedly Monday June 10, 2024, at his home. He was born in Chicago, IL, on October 31, 1971, the son of Walter John Mazurek and Sharon Rose (Dorsey) Mazurek Taylor. On June 12, 1993, he married Shannon Fritz in Sheridan, IN, and she survives.

John was a 1989 graduate of Merrillville High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. He took the discipline, lessons, and mindset that he learned while wrestling with him throughout his entire life. He instilled those same lessons and mindset to the young men and women that he coached at Carroll School Corp. from 2014 through 2017. John was currently employed at Kennametal as a sales engineer in metalworking. He was a family-oriented, hardworking man who was simple, yet he looked for any opportunity for an adventure. He was mechanically sound and was skilled with fixing up cars, as well as taking things apart and putting them back together. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, watching dirt bike racing, and grilling out. John will be remembered for having an optimistic outlook on life.

In addition to his wife Shannon, John is survived by his mother, Sherry Mazurek Taylor; children, Zoe Mazurek, Ezra Mazurek, Zane Mazurek; grandsons, Dalton Mazurek, Levi Mazurek; brother, Bret Taylor; uncle, Mark Mazurek; father-in-law, Kenny (Gail) Fritz; brother-in-law, Kent (Steph) Fritz; a lifelong friend and like a brother; Jake Baker; and a large extended family of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Mazurek; stepfather, Bret A. Taylor; and extended family members.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan Street, Burlington, IN 46915. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Grenier officiating. A reception will be held following the memorial service at the Burlington Community Building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Clinton County Humane Society.
