Kats' winter guard, indoor winds find success

The Kokomo High School Indoor Winds group and KHS Winter Guard brought home first and third place awards from Noblesville's Indiana Percussion Association (IPA) Invitational and the Indiana High School Color Guard Association (IHSCGA) in Brownsburg on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Returning as last year’s IPA Champions, Kokomo Indoor Winds once again were awarded top prize in the first performance of their routine, “The Sounds of Silence.” The group earned a 71.300 in their Winds Scholastic A class.

Kokomo Varsity A Winter Guard, with no returning seniors this year, placed third in round one of Class A, scoring a 67.330. Top award in the Class A Round 1 went to the Carroll High School Varsity Winter Guard.



Other local schools bringing home awards from the IHSCGA meet were Western Winter Guard, second place in Regional A Class Round 1 with a score of 61.660, and Maconaquah HS Winter Guard fourth place in Regional Class A Round 1 with a score of 60.620.

Also competing were Northwestern High School Winter Guard, awarded seventh place in Regional Class A Round 2 with a score of 61.180.
