The Kokomo Wildkats continued their winning streaks on Feb. 1 by downing the Cathedral Fighting Irish, 91-74. The win marked the eighth straight victory for the Kats, and the ninth straight home win.
The win also kept the Kats undefeated atop the North Central Conference at 6-0 and unbeaten in seven contests in 2024. Entering the game, Kokomo had been ranked No. 7 in Class 4A, while Cathedral was ranked No. 4.
The Wildkats placed four players in double digits on the night. McDonald's All-American Flory Bidunga led the field with 23 points and 17 rebounds, and he was nearly matched by senior Karson Rogers with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Rogers added a game-high six assists, while Bidunga topped the charts with five blocked shots.
Sophomore Korbyn Hammel put in 17 points to go with three assists and three steals. Junior Zion Bellamy added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
Juniors A'dayveon Young and Andrew Barker each had eight points. Sophomore Baris Moore rounded out the scoring with a pair. The team's 91-point output was an unusual occurrence for Kokomo, as it rarely exceeds the 90-point threshold; fewer than once every seven seasons.
Now standing at 17-3, the Wildkats will travel to Richmond on Friday, Feb. 9, to face the 18-2 Red Devils.
